Cornerstone Youth Mexico- Day 3

Hola Amigos,

Todos es bien en Mexico!  (That's all the spanish we know how to spell so don't worry the rest is in English)

Today we woke up an hour early, oops! turns out we have a two hour time change-not just one! awkward....but we got the chance to spend more time on our devos, exploring Brenda's and the neighborhood. Some of the guys even climbed the big hill/small mountain before breakfast.

We had the opportunity to go to the Centro Cristiano Church in Guaymas.  It was an interesting experience to say the least and it brought a whole to meaning to "making a joyful noise unto the Lord". There was a lot of dancing and praising God in ways that seemed strange to many of us but the passion of the people was too amazing to even explain.  We participated in the service in various ways by presenting a skit called The Stand and giving "cardboard testimonies" in which we wrote on one side of our board a struggle that we have and on the other we wrote how Jesus is/had helped us through it.  Jordan and Reilly also shared their testimonies with the congregation and after Scott spoke on the topic of apathy.

At the end of the service, the Pastor of this church called those who wanted prayer to the front. Once we were up there youth and other church members prayed with us. After the service was done, our group travelled to an addiction home that is run by the church. They have about twelve men living there right now but they usually house around twenty. Once we were given a tour we drove back to Brenda's for lunch.

In the afternoon we went down to the beach to hang out and swim. A lot of us went climbing on the rocks to find starfish, shells and adventure. Much to Nic's dismay he found out that it was illegal to bring starfish across the border into the United States. So he reluctantly had to allow the starfish he had caught with our guide(a volunteer do-all) Herman, Stewart(arms) and Jasper(legs), to be released into the ocean.

After supper we had a surprise visit from a nearby youth group.  We got to know them and challenged them to a game of soccer.  It was good that there were only 10 of them playing because their skill rocked our socks off but we beat them in our numbers!

Our first full day in Mexico was concluded with our time of sharing, prayer, and worship.  All in all it was an awesome day of adventure and experiencing God.

Buenas Noches!
