Cornerstone Clips -- June 1, 2008

* Membership Meeting after the Worship Service on Sunday, June 1 to vote on Youth Pastor Recommendation. All are invited to attend but only members will be allowed to vote. There will be some activities planned for children Grade 6 and younger during this time.
Recommendation – The Elder Board recommends to the Cornerstone membership that we hire Andy Neufeld as our full-time Youth Pastor starting August 1, 2008.
* Baptism – Next Sunday, June 8.
Fellowship Meal after the morning service.
-Bring sandwiches, salads, desserts and beverages.
-Grp. 1 (Marge Reimer’s group) is in charge.
-Please bring extra food for guests.
* Young Adults – June 7 – Tour of C.A.R.E. Ministries in Winnipeg at 3:00 p.m. Going to a Winnipeg Goldeyes game after. Meet at the turkey in La Riviere at 12:30 p.m. Please bring some extra cash for supper.
* Summer Schedule starting on Sunday, June 22.
-Prayer Meeting at 9:00 a.m.
-No Sunday School.
-Worship Service at 10:00 a.m.
* Children’s Feature – Anyone interested in doing a children’s feature during the worship service in the summer months, please talk to Marian Redekopp.
* CD’s of the Sunday morning messages are available. Talk to the Sound guys if you want one.
* Reminder: If you are using a CD, DVD or video during the Worship Service please talk to the Sound guys in advance.
* Attention all Ministry Leaders: Children’s Church, Kid’s Klub, Sunday School, Jr. Youth and Sr. Youth … A reminder that it takes 6-8 weeks to process applications and checks. Please recruit September volunteers now. Contact the Protection Plan Committee (Helen Wall, John Smith, Jerry Pauls) if you have questions.
* MCI Sangerfest on Sunday, June 8 (10:30 a.m. & 2:00 p.m.). Theme: “Called by God to be Worthy.” Lunch available by donation.

-CSY Youth Retreat – June 6-8. Speaker: Jeremy Sawatsky (YFC worker from Brandon). We will be going to Stephenfield Provincial Park. I can’t wait to have smores … so sign up in the Youth Room!

- Guys meet at the church at 5:00 on Friday. Bring sleeping bag, warm clothes, tent and drinks & snacks. We will be back by 12:00 Saturday, just in time for lunch. Call Jeremy and let him know if you are coming. If you don’t let him know you don’t get food.
- Girls meet at the church at 7:00 on Friday. Bring sleeping bag, overnight stuff and drinks & snacks. Breakfast will be provided. Call Diane DeRoo to register. Pick up time is a 11:30 a.m. at the church.

* Mother’s Day – A Mother’s Day powerpoint is being put together by Al & Tasha Deschambault. Please e-mail or give a picture of you and your mother to Al & Tasha as early in the week as possible.
* Global Day of Prayer for Southern Manitoba – Friday, May 9 at Winkler Bergthaler Church at 7:30 p.m. Join 220 other nations this weekend for the world’s largest prayer meeting – all praying for a fresh Pentecost. Special Tribute: “Prayers of a Million Mothers”.

Library Notice . . .
* At a recent Elder’s meeting, the Elders made a motion that a refundable damage deposit will be requested when our DVD Bible Study material is loaned to other churches or individuals. If a request for one of the DVD Bible Study series is made to you, please direct this request to Marian Redekopp.
* Individuals within Cornerstone are free to use the DVD Bible Study materials but if you will be using it for more than one month please make arrangements with the Librarians.
* For those who have DVD Bible Study material presently, please have these returned by the end of May.
* A request has been made for some Juvenile “Left Behind” books by Jenkins/LaHaye that are missing from the series in our library. If anyone has the following books in this series and is willing to donate them to the church library, please contact Vi Guenther or Marian Redekopp. (The books needed are #5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12)
