·         Children’s Camps International invites you to their Annual Fundraising Banquets!  Mark your calendars for Sunday, September 29, 5:30 and Monday, September 30, 6:30 at the Winkler Mennonite Brethren Church, 120 Pineview Drive.   On the menu is pizza and chicken!  Tickets are free but space is limited.  Please call the CCI office at 331-4003 or email info@ccicamps.com."

·         Church Library - if you don't have the schedule that allows you to be a part of a Bible study group at the church, you may want to consider working through a study on your own.  We have over 25 wonderful Bible studies to choose from, and they can all be found on the top shelf in the library.  Additional workbooks, if you choose to use one, can be found on the shelves as well.  All of these studies come with a leader's guide, a workbook and video sessions on DVD.  You are welcome to them, just sign them out like you would a book and work through it at your own pace.  There are two new studies this fall: Malachi by Lisa Harper, and One Thousand Gifts by Ann Voskamp, which is a 5-session study that encourages you to really look at life and find the good in it.  How do we find joy in the midst of deadlines, debt, drama and daily duties?  Are we able to express gratitude for the life we already have?  We can then come to feel the impossible: that we are wildly loved - by God.  If you have any questions, please just ask Nancy Rempel

·         Sunday School begins next Sunday Sept 15th at 9:30. There are classes for all ages!  Nursery care is available for babies and Sunday School begins for children at age 2.Youth and adult classes are also available.  Come and study the scriptures together!

·          Volunteers needed to help lead Children’s Church during Sunday services.  Please call Sheila Smith @ 825-2715.

·         Cornerstone now has an AED (automated external defibrillator) that is ready to use in case of a medical emergency.  It is mounted in the glass front case in the main foyer.  The case is not locked but it is alarmed so it should only be opened if you need the AED.  There will be an information session on the AED later in the fall...watch for details.  If you have questions talk to Denise

Please bring salads & drinks for the fellowship meal.  Meat, buns & dessert will be provided.  Linda Kimber’s group in charge. Also bring lawn chairs or picnic blankets, baseball gloves. Contact Vern or Scott to sign up on a baseball team. Also remember to bring lawn mowers for the lawn mower race. Bring family & friends for a great day of fun and fellowship

·         For the last six months, Melissa Penner, Domanique Deschambault, Stephanie Hein, Rebecca Hein, and Sarah Hein, worked hard to complete the Duke of Edinburgh Award.  This is a citizen’s award for young people who are wanting to grow in serving the community, doing physical activities, and learning new skills.  It’s been an adventurous journey!!  We welcome all to join in our celebration for this momentous occasion.  We will receive the bronze level award on September 6, 2013 at 7:00 pm at Cornerstone Ministries Church.

·         Sunday School begins on Sept 15th!  Thank-you to each one that has volunteered to help.   We have enough teachers for each class.  Now we need several subs that could relief teach on occasion. If you can help with this please talk to Karen F. 

·         Volunteers needed to help lead Children’s Church during Sunday services.  Please call Sheila Smith @ 825-2715.

·         A baby shower for Shannon Reimer & Lainey will be held on Thursday, August 29 @ 7:00 pm (not 7:30 as was mentioned in last week’s bulletin) @ Cornerstone. Everyone Welcome.

·         Church Family Picnic has been changed to September 8 at Clearwater. Please bring salads & drinks.  Meat, buns & dessert will be provided.  Linda Kimber’s group in charge.

·         Thank you to each and everyone who contributed to the mission of Vacation Bible School in some way, through prayer, jars for crafts, bales, food for snacks, giving time and energy to children in activities this past week, Station and Crew leaders, etc.  God blessed us richly and we believe He was glorified and the gospel was shared. 

        Two CDs with songs sung at Vacation Bible School will be in the library and available for loan

·         Pre-registration for VBS will be available for families attending Cornerstone after the morning service on August 18.  

·         WANTED:  empty, clean plastic jars with lids (for example, 1 kg. size peanut butter jars) for craft project at Vacation Bible School at Cornerstone.  40 jars are needed.  Please put jars in a box in the kitchen labelled 'Jars for VBS".  Thanks for your help.

Congratulations to Rob & Martha Lane on the birth of their baby boy, Bailey Morgan Fergus Lane on Aug 13^th at 12:50 pm.  He weighs 7 lbs, 9 oz.

·         Are you in interested in helping with Vacation Bible School at Cornerstone, Aug. 20-22? Volunteers are needed for crafts, Bible teaching, games, registration and snacks.  Please speak to Judi Heide if you want to be involved.

·         Thank you to Esther & Cornie Krahn and John Neufeld for sprucing up our church's flower beds and mowing the lawn.  Assistance by others in these tasks is welcomed.

·         Pastoral Vacations: Pastor Dave & Agatha & family are leaving for a two week vacation to Ontario starting tomorrow, and Pastor Scott is taking a week of vacation time plus a week away speaking at camp.  Any pastoral concerns can be given to Leo Martens (873-2585) or one of the other elders.

·         Windy Bay Fundraiser:  fundraiser at Cornerstone Ministries to support Hardi and Betti Kubassek (Open Doors Foundation)-July 7^th 2013 (tonight) at 7pm. No admission - free-will offering
