It's 10:30 local time and we just got back from a evening service with the church we did the roof for in Fatima, needless to say we are exhausted!
Today we worked on site at Brenda's on the new dorms. We started work on the second story by playing legos again with foam blocks for cement. Almost the whole bottom layer got poured. We had to wait for more foam blocks but they didn't come until after 2:00, so instead we got cleaned up and headed off to the local market for some shopping and looking around. We needed to be at Pastor Raphael's church by 4:00 to hand out 20 of 40 food hampers we paid for. We split into two groups with 10 heavy bags each and headed down the street, one group and Pastor Raphael and one had his wife, plus each had an interpreter so we would be able to understand what was being said.
It was a really neat experience that was much more fun than I thought it was going to be. At each house that we stopped at, we told them why we had come, and that God loved each of them and connected it to the church. We then were able to pray for them and show them a bit of tangible love. It took almost two hours to hand out ten bags!
At 7:00 we went to Pastor Raphael's existing church building for an evening service. The building they have now is a very nice, but small building. They are going to continue to do a service in the old building once the new one is up as it is in a different area. Fred Hein spoke and did a terrific job. He really allowed God to speak through him to the people. I think everyone left there feeling very encouraged.
When the service was over at 9:00 we were all pretty hungry as we hadn't had supper yet. Unfortunately that place we were going to go to for supper ended up being closed, so we got directions to another similar place and enjoyed so good Mexican hot dogs :)
It doesn't seem right that tomorrow is our last full day here, I know that we are going to miss everyone here until we come back again (Lord willing!). But alas, our flights are paid for and people are expecting us back home. So come Friday morning we'll load our sunburnt selves up and head off.
Please keep us in mind and in your prayers as we head back. Pray for ease of passage through borders again, safety in travel, and good weather for those driving.
