Saying Goodbye- Another Day of Adventure

Hello parents and followers of the blog,

Today we started very early, leaving the base at San Carlos around 5:15AM. It was a sad time to say goodbye as our team has grown pretty close with the staff at Casa de Esperansa in our week of ministry. We made good time to the Mexican border and all the crossings went smoothly...... Until DOT pulled us in for an inspection. One light wasn't working on our dash that comes on in case of brake failure so they put out bus out of commission until it was fixed. Also, our lack of log books put both drivers out of commission for a 10 hour waiting penalty. Milt and Andy started working on the bus at the compound with some help from a tow truck driver while the group walked to a nearby gas station. After an hour, we had the problem fixed, and log books ready to use. But still the 10 hour penalty for the infractions we incurred at the inspection. 3 hours into our waiting time, the supervisor at the DOT station came over to Milt, Andy, and Scott on the bus and asked "Were you guys praying or something?". They said "Yes we were". She replied "I got a call from our head guy saying private buses that aren't for profit don't need to produce up to date logs at time of inspection so I was asked to let you go!" We were pretty excited as we had already accepted that our trip home was going to look a lot different than planned. That was our first hold up. About an hour later..... a tire blew......in the middle of nowhere. Again, things seemed pretty hopeless. Luckily our tire blew in the country by a little ranch house with the nicest retired couple in the world. They were incredibly helpful. Invited us all into their house, let us use their phone and tools. Rick (the man who owned the ranch house) even went and got us a bat so we could play a game of baseball in the front yard, and gave us a tour of his whole yard and nature trail. A couple hours later a mobile tire repair man was there (named Jesus ironically), and we were back on the road, except now we had 3 new friends. After this we made very good time to Albequerque where we just arrived at our hotel. It is currently 4AM so we will have a shorter sleep than anticipated but all things considered we are glad to be where we are. God is good.

We anticipate arriving in Crystal City around mid afternoon on sunday (3PM) as long as all goes well; we will text and contact parents when we are getting close to home. We will also post on here an update when we are getting close. Thank you very much for all your prayers and we look forward to sharing with all of you in church on April 9th in person at Cornerstone on Sunday Morning. All are invited to hear our stories in person!
